Mary Jo Lister, 88 of Kansas City, MO died Sunday, August 8, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2021 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1310 Westport Road, Kansas City, MO 64111. Burial will be Forest Hill/Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 12 at McGilley Memorial Chapel-Midtown, 20 W. Linwood Blvd., Kansas City, MO, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.
Mary Jo was born February 12, 1933 in Kansas City, MO to Joseph and Rosemary (Tennie) Monahan. Mary Jo graduated from Loretto High School. She married Joe Lister in 1952 after he was discharged from the US Army. Mary Jo was a homemaker to Joe and her three sons, Dennis, Jay and Vince. She was a longtime, active member of Guardian Angels Church.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Joe, in 2009. In addition to her sons, Mary Jo is survived by eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Fond memories and condolences maybe shared at www.mcgilleymidtownchapel.com.
