

She was born in Philadelphia, PA to Joseph A. McCusker and Margaret McLaughlin McCusker on February 18, 1925. As part of a large and loving Catholic family, she fervently embraced her Catholic faith and her Irish heritage. In her youth Rosemary enjoyed spending time on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, NJ. It was there in 1946 that she met her life’s love, Navy officer and pilot James M. Wear. The romance flourished and the couple eloped to Baltimore, where they married on March 1, 1947. Their union lasted almost 64 years, until his death early in 2011.
Rosemary’s marital life began with a move to Kansas City, then to Olathe, KS. The family returned to Kansas City in 1967, where Rosemary became a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish. One of her happiest moments was when her husband Jim converted to Catholicism and became an active member of St. Catherine’s. Rosemary delighted in being a wife, homemaker and stay-at-home Mom to her children, daughters Sharon Hamilton, Connie Guerrero, Jayme Wear and Mindy Gallagher (Jimmy), and son Robert Wear.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents, 13 siblings, and a number of nieces and nephews. She is survived by her five children, three granddaughters Kendra, Carly and Kelsey, five grandsons Eric, Travis, Vincent, Andy and Keenan, 13 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, February 6; with Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February. 7, both at St. Catherine of Siena, 4101 E. 105th Terrace. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
