Rowene Faye Bossart, 80, of Leawood KS passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 19, 2022 following a valiant 5-year battle against metastatic breast cancer. Rowene was born January 16, 1942 in Minneapolis, MN to Eugene and Lucille (Shussin) Pikovsky.
Rowene is survived by her husband of 58 years, Doug; children, Todd Bossart and Tracy (John) Dignam; brothers, Mike (Cindy) Pikovsky, Scott (Deborah) Pikovsky; sister-in-law, Peggy (Rod) Wambolt; nieces, Sasha, Amy, Michele and nephew Jay.
After moving to Kansas in 1975, Rowene made several lifelong friends in the community. Her magnetic and gracious personality made certain that once you had met her, you did not forget her.
Until her illness prevented it, you could always find her walking the neighborhood with her beloved dog Dolli, greeting her neighbors and of course, their pets by name.
Row will always be remembered for her unrivaled abilities to love, nurture and spread kindness to all who were fortunate enough to cross her path. If she could be helpful, she was happy. She was at her best when caring for others and we were blessed to have had her in our lives.
Donations in Rowene’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society or KC Pet Project.
Honoring Row’s wishes, a private family graveside service will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home 10507 Holmes Road, KCMO 64131.
Row requested a “party” because she wished to be celebrated, not mourned. We will celebrate her life on January 28th, 2023 at 12:30-3:30 at YaYas Euro Bistro in Overland Park, 7021 W 135th St, Overland Park, KS 66223.
