He was born in Kansas City July 9, 1938, to Cecil and Ethel Reed. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Shirley Ragon. Roy graduated from Ruskin High School in 1956, received his Engineering degree from the University of Missouri in 1960, and later received a Master’s degree from the University of Kansas. Roy married Georgia Miller on November 11, 1960.
Roy worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for 36 years, retiring in 1996 as Deputy District Engineer for Project Management. He was an avid fisherman and after working on the Smithville Lake water basin project, he knew the very best of fishing holes. He enjoyed following the Chiefs, Royals, MU Tigers, and was a fan of any team that beat KU.
Roy is survived by his wife of 61 years and 4 children, Tracy, Christopher, Kelly and Amy and seven grandchildren Tyler, Ethan, Mitchell, Ryan, Jodi, Sarah and Jack.
A Celebration of Life Visitation for Roy will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131.
