

Savannah Marie Wright was born in Kansas City, Missouri on September 16, 1927 to Sylvester Williams and Ada Bell Bonner. She departed this life to begin her eternal journey with our Savior, Jesus Christ on July 25, 2017. Savannah was preceded in death by both parents, grandparents, husband Windel Wright, sister Mary Frances Lastiee, two sons Ernest Batiste and Ronald Batiste.
Savannah attended school in Kansas City, Missouri. She was employed at Venture’s Dept. Store several years ago until she retired. Savannah loved the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member for many years at Spruce St. Matthew Baptist Church until her health declined and she could no longer attend, but she still kept her faith and attended church every Sunday while in the nursing home.
Savannah was an incredible woman, and an inspirational woman. She was a loving and caring person. She enjoyed reading her Bible, going to church, and listening to music and watching movies. Savannah also loved to cook and everyone enjoyed her famous shrimp gumbo. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, as well as entertaining them on holidays. She enjoyed her home and kept it clean at all times. She was funny and loved to make people laugh. She had a green thumb and loved her plants and flowers. Savannah was known to be a Diva, because she enjoyed dressing nice and looking good. She loved her high heel shoes. She made sure her hair, eyebrows and especially her nails were done. She had beautiful smooth skin and always gave the women around her good beauty and skin advice. She loved her family dearly and was always there for others. Savannah will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Savannah Wright’s loving memory will be cherished forever by one daughter Frances Wright of Kansas City, Missouri; one son Kindel Wright of Kansas City, Missouri; three special daughters Tracy Booker, Angel Crofton-Taylor and Chevelle Johnson-Hall, all of Kansas City, Missouri; two special friends Annie Strong-Lacy and Isaphine Riley, both of Kansas City, Missouri; six grandchildren Shania Robinson, Monique Wright, Kindel L. Wright, LaQuita Thompson, Jessica McClelland and DraVeon McClelland, all of Kansas City, Missouri; two special grandchildren Dornell Booker and Shanice Booker of Kansas City; twelve great-grandchildren, five nieces and one nephew. She leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 5, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
