Scott Alan Jacobs was born to Alfred Leon and Sharon Roan Jacobs on October 12, 1962 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the third of four sons born to the couple. Scott showed initiative early on by securing a job in the Hallmark cafeteria at the age of 16. He worked 5 hours a night after school and was a full time employee by the time he graduated from Fort Osage High School. Scott stayed with the company and eventually became a “computer guy” in Order Management Services. Due to health concerns, he retired but remained active with many Hallmark events. He recently celebrated his 44th year with Hallmark cards
Scott was a perfectionist in the most positive sense of the word. He was detail oriented in all aspects of his career, hobbies, and craftsmanship as he set high standards for himself. Professionalism was a way of life whether he was at work or play.
Faith, family and friends were three of the most important components of his life. Scott was a member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, most recently serving on the vestry as the Junior Warden, ushering, and meeting with the Saturday Men’s Group. He was a diligent committee member and leader.
Scott was a member of two extended family groups-the Jacobs and the Gregorys. Scott’s brothers, John, Tim and JR ,were either nearby or a phone call away. Scott married his beloved wife, Carol in 1994. Four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law were considered family as well. As the years passed, nieces, nephews, spouses and babies joined the circle of loved ones.
The friendships that Scott maintained stretched from high school years to his Hallmark days and into his retirement. He was fiercely loyal to these individuals developing lifelong relationships. Scott fit into any number of social groups and was `at ease on the golf course,, bowling (scoring a 300) enjoying dinner at a fine restaurant, going to Chiefs games or concerts.
Scott had a wide range of media interests and could quote word for word lines from popular movies and television shows. He had a knack for impersonating Forrest Gump, Donald Duck, and Dr. Sheldon Cooper from “Big Bang Theory”. His quiet personality hid his underlying sense of humor.
There was one activity that could get Scott charged and that was travel, his favorite place being Maui. He was a seasoned traveler and loved a variety of vacation experiences.
Scott passed away after a long battle with kidney disease on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Kansas City Hospice House. His family is grateful for the kind, loving care that he received there. He is survived by his wife, Carol, three brothers, John (Ritsuko), Tim (Terri) and JR. His sisters-in law and brothers-in-law Janet and Cecil and Sarah and Paul .
