Shawn Christopher Tinoco Sr., age 34, passed away suddenly on August 14, 2021 in Independence, Missouri where he lived for most of his life. Shawn had strong roots in his community as he was a 2005 graduate of Fort Osage High School and was employed by Olin Winchester Lake City as a primer operator in building 35, 556 wing.
Shawn was born in Kansas City, Missouri on Christmas Day 1986 to Albert and Cynthia Tinoco. From that day until the very end, he was an angel in everyone’s life. He was the youngest of four brothers, but he had the biggest personality. Shawn never hesitated to do anything for anyone, even a stranger. Because of his generous heart, his organs will be donated through Midwest Transplant Services. He was the man everyone could depend on to be there in the good times and the bad. But Shawn sure did love the good times! He was so full of life that he could bring a smile or a laugh to anyone around. He especially loved to cause excitement and uproar around his family’s Chiefs/Raiders rivalry. Like his late father, Shawn was a die-hard Royals fan. He is commonly known as the “Field-Runner” at Kauffman Stadium after rushing onto the field following the 2014 ALCS Championship game. There is only one thing that he loved more than his Kansas City Royals and Las Vegas Raiders, and that was his children and family!
Shawn was preceded in death by his father, Albert R. Tinoco Jr.; his brother, Anthony R. Tinoco; his paternal grandparents, Albert R. Tinoco Sr. aka “Tic-Toc” and Angelina Tinoco aka “Halo”; and his maternal grandparents Gilbert A. Diaz and Consuelo M. Diaz. He is survived by his children, Shawn C. Tinoco Jr. aka “SJ” and Aryanna J. Tinoco; his mother, Cynthia R. Tinoco; his siblings, Monica R. Becerra, Angelo L. Tinoco, and Nicholas A. Tinoco Sr. (Rosemary), and Justice A. Diaz; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Friday, September 10, 2021 at Sacred Heart/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2544 Madison, Kansas City, MO. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, KS. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W.
