Shirley M. Hayes, 85, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away February 28, 2012. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shawnee Mission Medical Center Volunteer Services. Shirley was born September 7, 1926 in Cherokee, Iowa. She had 50 years of service as a volunteer at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. She was known as “Aunt Shirley” to all her family and friends. Shirley was an avid cook, especially cookies and pies. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Donald Hayes; son Ron Hayes and wife Ann; granddaughters Tish Hayes, Heather Fitzpatrick and husband Michael, and Brea Hayes; many nieces, nephews and close friends.
