Sunny was born on March 22, 1937 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She was an only child of Bill and Jane Rager. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, William Caldwell and Elizabeth Jane Rager and her loving husband, Jerome “Jerry” Overstreet. She has three biological children, William Overstreet, Cynthia Clark and Debbie Overstreet. She has three others she considered her children, Kenn MacAdam, Jim Shultz and Khyareha Pearl Sanders. She has six grandchildren, Dustin Overstreet, Tiffani Unger, Jordan Overstreet, Kelly Clark, James D. Shultz, Sydney Shultz, Brynna MacAdam, and Nick Madl, whom she considered her grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was married on August 13, 1954 to the love of her life, Jerry Overstreet. They together had the kind of love that every couple dreams of. It was true, faith based, unselfish and unconditional lasting sixty wonderful years. Sunny was just as her name implies. Her smile would light up a room. She had an amazing love for others and compassion for life until her final breath. She was making sure that the hospice nurses were comfortable, had food to fuel them and were ok, along with all of us. That was mom. No one ever left her presence hungry. She loved feeding everyone whether it be at the house, at church, vacation bible school, funeral services or just her family. It was something that was important to her. She continued this until she physically was not able and was wheelchair bound. She then learned how to use the computer and continued working on the prayer chain from home. She was a member of Grace Point Baptist Church.
She spent some time at Brookdale Nursing Home where her love continued to spread. So much so they made her an Ambassador. She left there to move in with her family after Jerry passed away taking many lifelong friends with her. Sunny has left such a legacy for her family and others. She was a true lady and carried the love of Christ in her daily walk and always shared that faith with others. She told us that she was at peace because of her acceptance of Jesus Christ as her savior and she knew she was going to heaven to be with Jerry and she was going to have her legs back and run to him. That gives her family peace. There are no words for how much she will be missed.
