Sue Angeline passed peacefully in the home of her loving daughter after losing her fight with pancreatic cancer. Throughout her illness, Sue remained steadfast in her mission to find happiness each day.
Born on March 27, 1941, to Esther Louise Peters and John Franklin Langs, Sue was the younger sister of Joan Elizabeth Langs. She grew up in Flat Rock, Michigan, where she developed a passion for teaching. Sue discovered her calling as an elementary school teacher while helping to establish a Head Start program on the Navajo Reservation in Salina Springs from 1965 to 1966. After the program's success, she taught in Monroe, Michigan, before moving to California, where she continued her teaching career in Rialto. Later her career relocated again to the Kansas City metro. Sue learned quickly that no two classes were alike and embraced the challenge enthusiastically.
In July 1968, Sue met Harry Davidson in California, and they married on March 29, 1969. While married, they welcomed their only child, Shawn Lynn Davidson, on December 31, 1970. Sue later had three granddaughters: Alicia Monique Griffin (born November 14, 1987), Anesha Angeline Griffin (August 16, 1989), and Tamera Lynea Thornton (March 21, 1998).
In her personal life, Sue enjoyed reading, attending exercise classes, watercolor painting, and genealogy research. She cherished her Friday lunches with friends and Sunday dinners at various restaurants. In her later years, she busied herself with projects she had long postponed, including her soil and sand collection and painting furniture.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Shawn Davidson Greer, and her husband, Michael Greer. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Alicia Monique and Tamera Lynea, her nephew Matthew McElwee, and his children—Justice, Jordan, and Sophie—as well as numerous close cousins, neighbors, and friends. Sue is joining her late mother, Esther; father, John; stepfather Joe; sister, Joan; and granddaughter, Anesha Angeline, her namesake, with whom she will be buried.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, starting with visitation at 10 a.m., followed by services at 11 a.m. at the graveside, with a reception immediately following. In honor of Sue's bright spirit, the family requests that attendees wear colorful attire, reflecting the joy she brought to their lives.
Sue Angeline Langs Davidson lived a full life and often reminded her family that she did it her way.
