The Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 AM Saturday, January 15th, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church; entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. The Order of Hibernian Service and Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 PM Friday, January 14th, at St. Gabriel Parish where a visitation will continue until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to either St. Gabriel Catholic Church or Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Redemptorist) Catholic Church.
Tom was born March 24, 1936, to James Joseph and Mary Frances (Healy) Clossick in Kansas City, MO. He was a life-long resident of Kansas City. Tom graduated from De LaSalle High School in 1954. He won the golden glove boxing championship boxing for the “What So Ever Boys Club”. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. On September 19, 1959, he married Connie B. Phillips. They made their home in Kansas City North and are the parents of five sons. Tom was an employee of Trans World Airlines from 1965 until his retirement in 1999. He finished his distinguished career as the supervisor of plant maintenance for TWA. Following retirement, he volunteered in the Step Program for North Kansas City Schools and also worked as an election poll worker for Clay County. For more than 60 years he was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 101. Tom was active in the Ancient Order of Hibernians for more than 50 years and was Irishman of the year for the AOH in 2021. For many years Tom coached football and baseball. Tom was one of the founders of the CCD football team for his sons in the Monsignor O’Brien Football League. He also contributed further for the North Kansas City Baseball League as the “B” League representative in the early 1970’s. Since 1970, he was an active member of St Gabriel Catholic Church. Tom was an avid outdoorsman and taught his sons how to hunt, fish, and be good stewards of nature.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Tommy Clossick.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Connie Clossick; 4 sons, Kevin Clossick, James Clossick (Betty), Steven Clossick (Jennifer), and Sean Clossick; grandchildren, Gabriela, Maya, and Alex Clossick; his siblings, Mary Ellen Bandy, Eileen Osterman, James Clossick, and Margaret Hurley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
