Thomas “Jerel” Dawson, 93, of Independence, MO passed away March 28, 2017. Visitation will be 10am, followed by funeral services at 11am, Friday, March 31, 2017 at McGilley Sheil Chapel, 11924 E. 47th St, Kansas City, MO 64133. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 4801 E. Jerel was born March 2, 1926 to Oden Dawson and Lena Frances Fitzgerel Dawson. He married Florence Zito on April 4, 1947. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II, having fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded 3 Bronze Stars. Jerel was a member of Iron Workers Local #10 for 40 years.
Survivors include his wife of almost 70 years, Florence; children Charles and Kimberly Dawson; Sam and Anita Dawson; Kathi and Ron Burns; brother Bill and Lola Jean Dawson; 6 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Online condolences may be left at www.mcgilleysheil.com.
