

Thomas A. McDonald, 96 of Leawood, KS, passed away on October 30, 2017. Services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Redemptorist Church, 3333 Broadway, Kansas City, MO 64111, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. followed by a memorial mass at 9:30 a.m.
Tom was born on February 13, 1921 in Lexington, Missouri, the son of Thomas McDonald and Nina Chanslor McDonald Bartles. He served as a fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps in World War II in Europe and North Africa. Following a career in advertising, in retirement he enjoyed memberships in the Ancient Order of Hibernians, American Legion, and Commemorative Air Force. He was a proud member of the Co-Redemptorists and of Redemptorist Church. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Wanda L. McDonald; son, Thomas Allen Joseph McDonald, Jr.; and granddaughter, Lesley Nunemaker Maiorca. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia McDonald-Nunemaker of Overland Park, KS; grandson, Matthew Allen Nunemaker of Kansas City, MO; cousin, Joseph Allen Chanslor of Minnesota; grandson-in-law, David Maiorca; and his parish family. In lieu of flowers, Tom’s family suggests contributions to Redemptorist Church and/or Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, who provided such wonderful care to Tom.
