V. Colleen Cassing, 91, of Raytown, MO, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022. She was born January 8, 1931, in Gilman City, MO to Ellis and Lura Dale. She graduated from Gilman City High School in 1947. She moved to Kansas City, MO to attend Central Business College where she graduated in 1948. Colleen met and then married Clarence “Cass” Cassing on November 22, 1963. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage.
Colleen was a lifelong scholar graduating with an Associate in Arts Degree from Longview Community College in 1984. She went on to graduate from the two-year Charis Bible College Ministerial Training program in Kansas City in 2010. She then returned to complete the third year Ministerial Training program at Charis Bible College in Woodland Park, Colorado in 2013. Colleen was a devout Christian who enjoyed bible studies, ministering, worshipping, attending church small groups, and traveling on mission trips to Israel and Mexico, among others.
Colleen loved spending hours gardening, tending to her pond, oil painting, sewing, reading, praying and watching Kansas City Royals Baseball. Colleen was preceded in death by her parents Ellis and Lura Dale, brother Garnett Dale, sister Lee Williams and beloved husband Clarence “Cass” Cassing. She is survived by daughter Cheryl Benedict and husband Paul Benedict of Evergreen, CO, son Clint Cassing and wife Aimee Cassing of Kansas City, MO, grandsons Jake Wilson of Kansas City, MO, Tucker Wilson of Lee’s Summit, MO, and great-granddaughter Everleigh Wilson of Lee’s Summit.
Visitation will be at River Church Family, 6400 Woodson Rd, Raytown, MO 64133 on Saturday, March 19, 2022, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with Celebration of Life Service immediately following. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to River Church Family, Raytown, MO or River of Refuge, Raytown, MO.
