Vincent (Vince) Montesano of Kansas City, Missouri passed away November 11, 2012. Vince was born July 30th, 1929 in the home in the northeast area of Kansas City. He enlisted in the Army in 1948 and received an honorable discharge in 1950, met his soul mate Beatrice Robison, and they were married July 14, 1951. Vince and Bea owned the Corner Tavern at St. John and Askew for many years. In 1991 he retired from plumbing, sold the tavern and moved to the Lake of the Ozarks where he was closer to his brothers Frank and John Montesano. In 2008, he moved to Park Meadows apartments in Overland Park, Kansas where he made many new friends. Vince enjoyed bowling, darts, golf, fishing, making Italian sausage with his brothers but most of all shooting pool with all his friends and family. He loved spending time with his family and swapping stories with his friends. He was a great role model for his children and grandchildren on the meaning of marriage. Vince was Bea’s care giver for over 15 years until she passed; reminding everyone the meaning of “in sickness and in health, until death do us part”. Vince was a very gentle, easygoing man with a smile for everyone. He never failed to light up a room and left a memory with everyone he encountered. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Montesano and mother Lena Chioda Montesano; Bea his wife of 55 years; three brothers Santo, Sam and Joe; and one sister, Rose Howell. He is survived by two sisters Madeline Hackett and Genevieve Mayfield; two brothers Frank Montesano and wife Marion, and John Montesano; son Paul Montesano and wife Karen, daughter Terry Stevens and husband Dan; six grandchildren Jessica Montesano, Rachel Montesano, Robyn Montesano, Jami Montesano, Cory Stevens, and Eric Stevens wife Danielle; two great grandsons Dominic Montesano, and Westlee Stevens; one great granddaughter due in December Jeslynn Stevens; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15, with funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 16th, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home Chapel, 10507 Holmes Road. Burial at Memorial Park Cemetery. A “Celebration of Life” immediately following burial at Park Meadows Apt. in Overland Park, Kansas.
