She was born December 25, 1932 in Morrow County, Ohio on Christmas Day at home on the family farm to the late Jay and Ruth (Smith) Miller. Virginia graduated from Johnsville High school in 1950.
On May 4, 1957 she was married to Robert (Bob) J Jourdan and together they celebrated 63 years of marriage and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes. Virginia had her first and only child, Beth (Jourdan) Dillon on July 24, 1960.
Virginia loved sports, not just football. In her early 20s, she played softball on a travelling team in Ohio sponsored by Ashland Lumber. She played golf and always remarked she got a birdie well before her husband. She followed the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, Kansas Jayhawks and the Ohio State Buckeyes. She loved watching the Royals win the World Series in 2015 and the Chiefs win the Super Bowl in 2020. She could not remember the Chiefs blowout loss in the 2021 Super Bowl, which was a good thing.
Virginia enjoyed animals especially dogs. She had a total of 10 dogs in her lifetime, but not all at the same time. She had 3 dogs on her farm as a child and 7 in her adult life with Bob. Her last dog, KC, is still causing trouble at 17 years old. She enjoyed listening to Cardinals sing throughout the morning in her home in Olathe.
Virginia lived in many cities throughout her life, 40 years in Galion, Ohio, 3 years in Plainfield, Indiana, 21 years in Spencer, Iowa and 24 years in Olathe, Kansas.
Virginia had many different jobs in her working career. She worked for North Electric as a telephone equipment assembler in Galion, Ohio for over 20 years, the Spencer Hospital as a Surgical Technologist for 21 years and a Crossing Guard for the Olathe School District for 15 years. Her favorite job was as the Surgical Technologist working in surgery and completing sterilization kits.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Robert Jourdan, daughter Beth (Rick) Dillon, three grandchildren Jay (Anna) Dillon, Jenna Dillon and Jeff (Jennifer) Dillon; great grandsons Noah Heimes , Lucas Dillon and Logan Dillon; great granddaughters Charlotte Dillon and Madeline Dillon; and many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters Betty McCreary, Maxine Brown, and Dixie Miller.
