

Virginia Faye Ross, 81, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011. Services will be held Saturday, November 26th, 11:00 a.m., at McGilley State Line Chapel, with burial following in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, MO. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Virginia was born in East Lynne, Missouri, June 14, 1930 to Opal and Gene Woolery. She graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1948. She married David E. Ross on October 30, 1949. Virginia and David started their married life in Independence, MO and lived there until 1989, when they moved to Lee’s Summit, MO. After high school, Virginia worked in Kansas City as a secretary. After marrying David she was the bookkeeper and secretary of David E. Ross Construction Company until retiring in 1990.
In retirement, Virginia continued enjoying spending time with her grandchildren, going to the Lake of the Ozarks, and her many artistic hobbies. She loved to cook and was well known all her life for her wedding and party cakes, breads, cookies, and pies. She had many areas of artistic enjoyment and the last twenty years has focused on porcelain dolls and china, sewing doll clothes, and quilting. Virginia was a long-time member of a women’s business organization, Zonta International, Women in Construction, and the Porcelain Doll Guild. She and David were members of the United Methodist Church of Lee’s Summit.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Charles Eugene Woolery and Myra Opal Woolery, and her brother Robert Woolery, all of Pleasant Hill, MO. She is survived by her husband of 62 years of the home David E. Ross; her son David A. Ross of Leawood, KS; her daughter, Vicki Pflumm of Overland Park, KS. Also included are her daughter-in-law Patty Ross; son-in-law Mark Pflumm; grandchildren Michelle Kelly, Allison McClain, Tricia Schanna, Lindsey Ross, Laura Pflumm and Kristen Pflumm, great-grandchildren Brendan and Camden Kelly, William McClain, Avery and Riley Schanna.
