

Virginia Lea Thomas, 77, passed away quietly at her home, with her family around her, on October 30, 2021. She was born October 21, 1944 in Hamburg, Iowa. She grew up on a farm near Cameron, Missouri. She had fond memories of growing up on the farm and loved to share stories about those years.
She married David Thomas on December 27, 1985. They spent 36 years together, and enjoyed camping throughout the country with their RV, going to NASCAR races, shopping for antiques, and raising their children. They especially loved traveling to the lighthouses of Great Lakes region. Ginny worked as an office manager, and her expertise with anything mechanical or technological was legendary at all the companies she worked for. She was a talented artist, winning awards for her photography and her painting, and had a lifelong love of art, reading and music.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Ann Ohl, her mother, Thelma Swope, and her father, Sgt. Ralph Coffman.
Ginny is survived by her husband David, her brother Steven (Sharon) Smith, her children David Lee Jones and Beth (Billye) Cordell, her stepdaughters Desiree (Tom) Bryant and Jessie Epperson, and her grandchildren Joseph Lipka and Naomi Bryant.
Memorials are suggested to Wayside Waifs Animal Shelter, of which she was a longtime supporter, or the Jackson County Visiting Nurses Association, whose compassion and kindness were much appreciated by her family.

A visitation for Virginia will be held Friday, November 5, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133, followed by a funeral service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with burial immediately afterwards.
