William Earl Burge

William (Bill) Earl Burge, 84, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012. A visitation will be held 10:00-11:00 a.m. with an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 26 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, Kansas, 66213. A luncheon will immediately follow. Graveside Service will be 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64131. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made payable to Garden Terrace - Recreation Dept., 7541 Switzer, Overland Park, Kansas, 66214, where Bill called home for the past two and a half years where he received amazing care. Condolences may be offered at www.mtmoriah-freeman.com. He was born July 19, 1928 to Robert and Jean Burge, Kansas City, Missouri. Bill graduated from Lillis High School in 1946. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad 1946-1983, and for Shawnee Mission Ford from 1985-2005. Bill was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church from 1955-2012 and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, and loving wife Betty Marie Burge. He is survived by his children, Mary (Larry) Ingraham, Lisa (Tim) Cummins, Christopher (Anna) Burge, Anita (Daniel) Barnes, Carl (Shelly) Burge, and his brothers Robert E. Burge, Joseph (Rose) Burge, and John (Martha) Burge. Bill is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Bill will be remembered by his family as a loving son, brother, husband, dad and papa.
