William “Howard” Jefferson passed away on November 10, 2020 after complications with pneumonia and other health conditions. He passed peacefully at home with his closest family at his side under the care of Hospice of Kansas City.
Howard was a life-time Painter, a hard-working man, committed to his trade and was known to be a perfectionist, taking pride in his work. He was a former Shriner of the Ararat Temple, former member of B.A.S.S., which he dearly loved his fishing trips and tournaments over the years. In addition, he took up basement woodworking, crafting a cradle for his granddaughter, as well as bed frames, dressers and not to forget, rocking horses. He had a knack (and love) for Texas Hold-Em, family poker games during the holidays and wouldn’t miss a Chief’s game, even up to his last hours.
Albeit he didn’t portray his loving and caring side outwardly, he would scrape together his resources to help those he cared about, even if it meant he had to struggle a little himself.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Frank (Pete) and Anna (Betty) Jefferson, his loving wife, Cindy and a son, Bret Jefferson. Survivors include brother, Frank; son, Steve; daughter, Deanna; three grandchildren; Ashley Bernard, C. Bret Jefferson and Cheyenne Marty, two great-grandchildren; Vincent Bernard and Claire Jefferson, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flower arrangements or food, the family requests donations be made to Kansas City Hospice Foundation, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 200, Kansas City, MO 64114 (816) 363-2600; https://www.kchospice.org/donate/
