

Angel "Gelo" Santiago, age 94, of Katy, Texas, entered into eternal rest on January 10, 2026. Born in Naranjito, Puerto Rico, Angel lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and a steady, generous spirit. He was always thoughtful, dependable and quietly observant. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family and friends.
Angel was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jose Santiago and Brigida Lopez; and his siblings Juana Santiago, Benedicta Santiago, Thomasa Santiago, Jose Santiago, Abraham Santiago, and Aurelio Santiago.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Carmen Santiago; his children, Angel L. Santiago and his wife Maria and Alicia Cuomo and her husband Joseph; his grandchildren, Daniel Santiago, Michael Cuomo, Christina Cuomo, and Christopher Santiago his wife Michelle; and his great-grandchildren, Jayden Santiago, Bronx Santiago, Jaxson Santiago, Andrew Cuomo, Zaine Santiago, Liam Santiago, along with many other numerous family and friends.
Angel was the youngest of seven siblings. Throughout his life, Angel was known as a dependable provider, who took pride in honest work. After getting married to Carmen, on June 18th 1951, over 74 years ago, in Puerto Rico, they moved to New York, where he began his career as a restaurant employee, then worked with a production film company, and went on to serve as a security guard with Bankers Trust. Then in 1979 he came to Texas and continued his security career with Coca-Cola Corp, where he ultimately retired in 1996 at the age of 65. He carried a strong work ethic and a sense of responsibility that guided him throughout his life.
Angel had a deep love for baseball and was a devoted New York Mets fan. He was known for his remarkable, almost statistical memory, where he was able to recall numbers, details, and moments with impressive accuracy. More than anything, Angel cared deeply for his entire family and took great pride in watching them grow. His wisdom, patience, and example made him a mentor to many, offering guidance through quiet conversations and steady presence rather than words alone.
Angel will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.
A visitation will take place on January 22, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Katy Funeral Home 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy Tx 77494.
Funeral services will take place on January 23, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Katy Funeral Home 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy Tx 77494
Internment will be January 23, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Cemetery 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston Texas 77079
