Barbara June (Allen) Brock, of Cypress, Texas, was born on Monday, July 10, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Helen M. Chapman and James E. Allen (both deceased.) She went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 27, 2020, after a short time of illness with pancreatic cancer.
Barbara is survived by her loving and devoted husband of almost 64 years, Fred. E. Brock; three children: John E. Brock(Kristi), Jill Ann Brock and Bobbie Jean Gates (Greg), all of Texas; grandchildren: Robin Gates, Scotty Lindsey (Chris), Jamie L. Wolcott (Mike), Tommy Lindsey (Yesenia), Donald Gates, Holly Wilms, Daisy Flagel (Shaun); several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews; and brother, Bill Breig (Carol), of Utah.
During Barbara’s elementary school years, she played the accordion. While in high school, she participated in many competitions, winning many awards for her talent, and had become quite the accomplished musician. While she was still in her last year of high school, she met the love of her life, Fred E. Brock, at a church event. They fell in love and were married on Friday, February 22, 1957, in Lynwood, California. Because of Fred’s job, they moved all around the country, living in many states. During those years, Barbara became “Momma” of their three children. Barbara loved her family very much.
Barbara loved to travel, play golf, roller skate, enjoyed bowling, collected movies, was a bank teller for a while, loved animals, enjoyed decorating as well as wearing pretty clothes and jewelry. After Fred retired in 2003, they bought an RV and traveled for several years, ending up in Phoenix for eight years, and then moved back to Texas in 2016.
Barbara loved Jesus and reading the Bible. She enjoyed once again, being a part of the family at Westside Church of the Nazarene in Katy, Texas.
Barbara loved crafts of all kinds. Her love for crafts also became a ministry. She crocheted, quilted, painted still life scenes, made bookmarks, painted eggs, painted angel pins, made beaded angels and ribbon angels. Barbara made thousands of angel pendants and gave them away to friends, family, and any stranger that she met in their travels, as well as those living around them, as her opportunity to encourage others and share the love of Jesus with them.
Barbara’s desire, even in her last days, is for her family and friends to have a personal relationship with Jesus as their Savior, as well as the LORD of their lives. She wanted people to know that God loves them, and He provided a way for them to have eternal life in Heaven through Jesus Christ. Barbara was dearly loved and will be missed by so many.
A Life Celebration Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Westside Church of the Nazarene, 3434 N. Fry Road, Katy, Texas 77449, with Rev. Kent Schwamberger officiating.
