Carole was educated in the Bronx. She graduated from Columbus High School and worked in the insurance business for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and Merrill Lynch Financial.
Carole united in marriage to Karl Smith and from this union their son Derek was born.
In retirement Carole became an avowed activist in the cause to understand and educate the public, and to champion support for the autism community.
Carole was dedicated to her family and friends, especially her grandson, Tye Austin William Smith, who struggles with the effects of autism, and who along with her son, Derek, was the light of her life.
She will be remembered lovingly by all who were fortunate to know her, as a person who spent her whole life unselfishly giving generously to others, asking nothing in return.
Her true reward will be the peace and comfort she has achieved through her passing.
We have truly lost one of the life’s angels.
Carole leaves to always cherish her memory her sister, Sharon; sons, Derek and John their wives, Belinda and Rose; grandchildren, Tye, Kristofer, Carolisious and Tamara; great-grandchild, Arabella, and cousins Richard and wife Barbara, David, Leslie, Belen, Christianne, Daniel, Alexis, Malcolm and a host of family and friends too numerous to mention.
Sharon would like to give a special note of thanks to Tina, Susan, Marlene, Taylor and Suzette, who were there for Carole during her days in Houston and supportive through her illness. They provided laughs when needed and a shoulder to cry on when in pain. In fact, thank you is not a strong enough word to express how important they were in her life.
