Caroleen Barnette, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, passed away on Saturday, June 7th in her home in Katy, Texas at the age of 74 years old. Caroleen was born in Lincolnton, North Carolina on April 13th, 1951, to James Ray Sherrill and Eva Mae Sherrill. She had 6 siblings- Betty Jean, Brenda, Dolores, James, Nancy, and Russell. She lived in Lincolnton until her early 20’s, and then lived the rest of her life in Katy, Texas.
“Carol” always desired to be a mother; she believes it is what she was born to do, and it was her largest source of fulfillment and joy. She was a devoted mother and wife who always made time for family and would do absolutely anything for them. Carol was very prideful in her work of running an at-home daycare for most of her life- over forty years. She helped raise many generations of children who then grew up and had their own children who also came to Mrs. Carol’s daycare. She has touched the lives of many people over the years with her beautiful and giving heart. Her hobbies consisted of shopping, watching soap operas and hallmark movies, drinking coffee, going to her favorite restaurants, and spending time with her loved ones. She was best known for her sense of humor- in the good times and the bad. Her spirit lifted so many up around her.
Carol got married to Guy Anthony Barnette in her early 20’s in the late 70’s. She had 1 daughter, Teresa Garza, from a previous marriage, and had 3 sons with Tony- Jason, Matthew, and Garrett. She was a grandmother to Laura, Courtney, and Max, and a great-grandmother to Cristian and Nicolas. Carol is survived by her daughter, 2 sons, 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 1 sister, 1 brother, and many nieces and nephews. Carol will be remembered for her heart of gold, her sense of humor, her faith, and for her triumphant spirit.
