Cheryl Lynn Swift, 59, went to be with her Lord and Savior, August 20, 2017 in Houston, Texas. Her husband never left her side and at 6:35 in the morning she was finally at peace. She was our iron woman, and battled cancer for five long years.
Cheryl was born in Phoenixville, PA on May 24, 1958, to her loving parents Leonard and Prudence Hatch Raker. Cheryl was also a twin. She had a friendship and bond that would last a lifetime with her sister, Carole Vonlanken.
When Cheryl was 16, she met the love of her life, Phillip Swift. They married on August 6, 1977 in Southgate Michigan at Bethel Church. They just celebrated 40 years of marriage. Together they showed the world that through love, all things were possible.
Cheryl loved fearlessly and unconditionally. She stood by Phillip’s side, and helped him become the first college graduate in his family. She would’ve followed him anywhere, and together they made a life well-travelled and well loved. They had two daughters together, and they were Cheryl’s greatest joy in life.
She was a strong Christian woman who fought to the very end. She was not scared or fearful, she was at peace with the fact she was going to meet her maker and become one of the most beautiful angels.
She is preceded in death by her oldest brother Little Leonard, her adoring mother Prudence Hatch Raker (also known as Gram), her father-in-law John Swift, and her mother-in-law Lula Vernell Swift. They are all rejoicing together in Heaven now.
She is survived by her loving husband, Phillip Swift and their two daughters Leanne and Ashley Swift. Her father, Leonard Raker. Also by her siblings, Linda and David McElwain, Carole and Bill Vonlanken, Tim and Elaine Raker, Tom and Marsha Raker, and Merrilyn and Stacy Perritt, Ken and AnnMarie Swift, Theresa and Dale Rathbun, and Duane and Deanna Swift. Also, by her beloved cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved so much. Lastly, her grand dogs, Katniss, Winston and Sherman.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made in her name to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
Arrangements under the direction of Katy Funeral Home, Katy, TX.
