Gerald Douglas Al Spaulding, or as we know him Doug or Dad, was a wonderful, passionate man. He was raised in Malone, NY, by Gerald Douglas Spaulding and Marilyn May Spaulding. He died at the age of 51 in Rosenberg Texas on December 18, 2024.
Taught by his father, Doug was an amazingly gifted carpenter. He had a tremendous eye for beauty as he created with his hands. Taught by his mother, Doug had a great appreciation for classical music and the art of speech.
Doug was a theater man, a musician, and his singing voice resounded throughout the atmosphere with conviction and brought joy, peace, and life. He graduated from SUNY Potsdam, The Crane School of Music in New York, with a Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance. He also received a Masters in Music in Vocal Performance and Opera in Boston from New England Conservatory of Music.
Doug was a student of God and the Bible. He studied at Portland Bible College, Every Nation Graduate School of Campus Ministry and Fuller Theological Seminary School of Missions. As a man after the heart of God, Doug was a worship pastor and a leader at many churches over the years. He continued to read and study about the life of Jesus, his Savior, and the heart of God, the Father, as he served. It was said of him that he loved to bring expression of his love for God through action and not mere talk.
Doug was truly loved and will be missed greatly by his older sister, Ticia Barcroft, younger brother, Nathan Spaulding, and younger sister, Angela Breitels.
Doug will be forever loved and embracingly remembered By his wife of 23 years, Emily, Elizabeth Spaulding and his five sons Maximillian, Michael, Ethan, Isaac, and Andrew. Doug was a tremendous husband, a present and tremendous father, a tremendous leader, and a tremendous friend. He was a lover of Jesus, and a friend of God.
