Harold D Orr departed from this earth on January 8th 2023 at the age of 86 while at home. He did not go quietly into that great beyond, he did not pass without a bravely-fought war against the inevitable end, he fought for every drop and every grain of time over the course of nearly a year. It never entered into his mind that there was an alternative, for him it was always going to be alright, and even still it is alright. He is survived by his wife, two children, his half brother and sister, 6 nephews, 7 nieces, and many-many loving cousins.
Harold graduated Magna cum laude from the University of Texas, of which he was very proud of the work that he had put in to do so. He often remembered his times at the school with a fondness including when he was with his Fraternity Brothers at Sigma Phi Epsilon. He worked as a Geologist for Exxon for 30 years, and previously for Humble Oil as well. During his time for Exxon, he worked out of Kingsville, Tyler, North Houston, the Midland-Odessa territory, New Orleans, Jakarta Indonesia, and again Houston. He was very often the one leading, or looked to as a leader. When he was younger he had many hobbies including wood working, hunting, riding/care of his horse WAC, working on his cars, keeping his yard up, and when he had them taking care of his cows. He always took the time to help others, for no other reason than it was the right thing to do. Where ever he went he was soon known and remembered.
A visitation for Harold will be held Friday, January 20, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd, KATY, TX 77494. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Katy Funeral Home.
