James Emanis, a cherished family man, respected engineer in Houston's oil and gas industry, and avid outdoorsman, passed away surrounded by his loved ones. James was born in Center, Texas, to parents Viola and J.R. Emanis. His early years were shaped by the difficulties of being raised in a family facing hardships. His father, a veteran of World War II, returned from the war profoundly changed, grappling with numerous personal struggles. This made life particularly challenging for James and his family.
After graduating from Texas A&M University, James ventured into the world, determined to carve out his own path. His career as an engineer flourished in Houston, where he became a well-respected figure in the oil and gas industry. His reputation for excellence and integrity was so profound that his son, Jason, upon entering the same industry, was immediately met with accolades for being James's son.
James's personal life was equally fulfilling. He married his college sweetheart, Jackie McClendon, and together they raised three children, Stephanie, Jason, and Crystal. James was a dedicated father, ensuring his children had opportunities he did not. He instilled in them the values of hard work, integrity, and faith, all virtues he attributed to his mother, Viola, whom he revered.
At home, James was a hands-on individual, always busy with repairs and enjoying his passions for hunting and fishing. He had a deep love for outdoor activities, particularly hunting and fishing. His son Jason cherished the unforgettable yearly deer hunting expeditions they shared across Texas. Despite being a fervent outdoorsman, James also dedicated time to coaching his daughters' softball teams, acknowledging their different interests. Driven by a competitive spirit and a desire to be a supportive parent in ways his own father wasn't, James consistently went above and beyond for his children.
In 1992, James and Jackie realized their dream by purchasing their dream home on 7 acres in Brookshire, Texas. Here, James found his greatest love of all—his grandchildren. He spent three decades of his life, embracing his role as a grandfather to seven wonderful grandchildren: Tori, AJ, Ashly, Joel, Emily, Natalie, and Nicholas. His love for his grandchildren was immeasurable and became his greatest joy.
James Emanis leaves behind a legacy of resilience, hard work, generosity and devotion to family. His life was a testament to the power of determination and the impact of a loving father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
