James Moffett, age 68, of Katy, Texas went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 13, 2021 located at Memorial Hermann Hospital. James was born December 25, 1952 in Laurel, Mississippi to Benjamin and Nicie Elizabeth Moffett. After graduating school, he relocated to Houston, TX and met the love of his life Charlene Muckleroy, they were happily married on December 18, 1972. James was a devoted husband, loving father, and worked passionately as an Automotive Mechanic for over 30 years. Shortly after retiring from the automotive industry he begun working for Houston Chronicle, which he greatly enjoyed for an additional 8 years.James had a fervent love for God and ministered at Northside Antioch Baptist Church, moreover, he was a zealous ambassador for Christ and avid teacher. He preached numerous sermons, taught adult bible lessons, spent many summers teaching vacation bible school, volunteered for church benefits, along with local missionary work within the community. Anyone who knew my father would say, “Indeed, he is a friend of God.” James’s hobbies and interest were reading, gardening, cooking, traveling, being outdoors in nature, riding & racing motorcycles, he absolutely loved basketball, and his favorite color was blue. Two of my father’s favorite movies were, “The Jungle Book & Lion King” he would often quote some of the lines, and we would just laugh and laugh. Occasionally though, mother would tell him, “Okay, that’s enough James”, but in our hearts we were full of joy and we knew dad loved us. Nearly almost every time you saw him, he was telling his best jokes, and his sense of humor would lift anyone spirit. More importantly his heart and purpose were devoting his life to God, in any and every means possible. Each awakening, imaginable moment dad had he made sure to spend quality time with his sweet pea and best friend, Charlene. We’ll never forget dad teaching us life lessons, morals, being kind to all, and the greatest gift above all, waking us up for morning devotions and true worship to our Lord and Savior. We could not understand it then, but now we can give and instill his wisdom and love to our children, a legacy that will carry on. My father was blessed with a full and enriched life, his remembrance will be unforgettable and kept alive. We’ll reminisce his comicality, jokes, stories, testimonies, wisdom, and his presence will not once be forgotten. We thank you Heavenly Father for the precious time you’ve given us, we cherish those moments that can never be taken back, we patiently wait until the day we all meet again, forever and eternity, Amen.
