Jerome LeBlanc III, known by his family as Jerry, was born on February 27th, 1985 in Layfette, Louisiana. Jerry passed away on Saturday August 21st, 2021 in Katy, Texas, where he has called home for many years.
Jerry grew up in Layfette, Louisiana where he made lifelong friends. Growing up Jerry always had a sense for adventure, whether it was running through the woods playing cops and robbers or finding the nearest source of water to dive in. After attending elementary and most of middle school in Louisiana, Jerry and his family moved to Katy, Texas where he attended Katy High School. Jerry loved playing sports of all kinds, from pee wee soccer to full contact football and hockey. But, if you asked him, his favorite subject was lunch. He was always the life of the party and never met a stranger. After high school Jerry attended Del Mar in Corpus Christi where he continued making lasting friendships and unforgettable times. It was at this time he also found his side kick Gracie, a spunky pit mix with as much energy as Jerry. His love of the ocean and obsession with robots took him offshore driving ROV’s. After attending The Underwater Center ROV school in Scotland, he traveled around the world doing what he loved most, meeting new people, and learning new things. On times he was home he would often work in the restaurant world; this is where he met his wife, Stacy. They shared a home filled with music, love, food, and their fur babies. They enjoyed doing everything together, from mundane household chores to jumping out of an airplane, to weekly trips to the grocery store for whatever idea Jerry had that week for the kitchen. There was always something cooking if Jerry was in the house, and he always had music on. From the moment he’d open his eyes in the morning he wanted music playing – reggae, zydeco, rap, hip hop, country, classical, he loved it all.
Friends and family were everything to Jerry. He was always there to listen and give you his one-of-a-kind Jerry advice. He was the rock of our family, the one who brought us all together in good times and bad. Jerry lived every moment to the fullest and he always lifted those around him. He would tell us to love your family, pour the drink, and eat the cake.
He was the greatest husband, son, brother, and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
Jerry is preceded in death by his Pops Troy Lynn Gerken and his Pawpaw J C Wainwright and his paternal grandparents Vaughn and Dorothy Gerken. He is survived by his wife of nine years Stacy Lynn Wickham, his mother Deborah Kay Gerken, and brother Dennis Wayne LeBlanc.
A memorial service for Jerry will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 5:00 PM at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd, KATY, TX 77494.
