Jesusita met and married the love of her life Catarino Martinez in Edcouch, Texas. They were married for over 25 years and had seven beautiful children. Two daughters, Delia Lopez and Blanca Figueroa, and their five sons Robert, Jose, Oscar, David, and Catarino Jr. She was a dedicated and loving mother and all of her children loved and adored her.
Jesusita loved to play bingo and buy lotto tickets and was often blessed with great winnings. Cooking delicious Mexican dishes was her expertise! Everyone knew her for amazing ability to make tamales and tortillas like none other! Dancing was also one of her favorite past times.Watching her favorite comedian film actor Cantinflas(Mario Moreno ) always brought laughter to her soul. Among her other passions was gardening. She had a green thumb and loved planting her vegetables, especially her jalapeño plants.
Jessica, as she was known to her loved ones and close friends, passed away after a valiant fight against Alzheimer’s on March 27, 2016. Her loving family surrounded her on this beautiful Easter Sunday. She is preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings as well as her great-grandson Brandon Lee, son of Celeste and Jamal Lee. Her brothers are Guadalupe, Benigno, Mauricio, Vicente Villarreal and sisters Luisa Moreno, Benigna Villarreal, Maria Rita Villarreal, and Nativida Tanguma. She is survived by all of her 7 children, 32 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren, and 39 great-great- grandchildren. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always brought joy to her heart.
A special thanks from Delia Lopez to the following caregivers at Kindred at Home Hospice Care–Zyria Krenek RN, Bukola M. Farinde LMSW, and nurse aides Jacqueline Clarkson , Shinita Sturns, and Brenda Hardy. Words cannot express my gratitude for all the tender love and care you provided my mother during her illness. To all my family members and friends thank you for all your love during this difficult time. Especially my brother, Catarino Jr, and his wife, Sylvia, for their extra love and support.
In lieu of flowers, in honor of Jesusita who loved to garden, live plants would be appreciated.
