Joe Edward Valdez, 67, of Katy, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 5, 1957, in San Antonio, Texas, Joe was the son of Joe A. Valdez and Enriquita (Henrietta) Valdez and the younger brother of Gloria Greider.
Joe spent his entire 42-year professional career as a dedicated Geo Tech with Shell Oil Company. Known for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and quiet humility, he earned the respect of everyone he worked with.
In addition to his career, Joe was deeply committed to his family. He was a devoted husband to Hilda Ramos Valdez and a proud father to Joseph Valdez (wife Meagan), Matthew Valdez, and Alex Valdez (wife Lisa Webb). Joe supported his sons and grandkids in all their activities. He loved to cook and was happiest sharing something hot off the grill with his family, especially during casual get-togethers and holidays.
Joe had a wide range of interests. A lifelong soccer fan and Houston Dynamo season ticket holder, he enjoyed attending matches with Hilda. He was a proud Parrot Head, often listening to Jimmy Buffett, The Beatles, and The Eagles. He loved playing chess, running in the Houston Half Marathon, and planning trips with Hilda around BBQ, soccer and family. A faithful parishioner of Epiphany Catholic Church, Joe drew strength from his Catholic faith throughout his life.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Enriquita Valdez, his mother-in-law Ramona Ramos, his father-in-law Jacob Ramos, his brother-in-law David Ramos, and his niece Jennifer Heye. He is survived by his sister Gloria Valdez, his wife Hilda, his children and their spouses, and his beloved grandchildren.
