July 29, 1951 - January 11, 2025
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John William Anderson. Born on July 29, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to John (d. 1993) and Jessie (d. 2016). John lived a life full of love, generosity, and dedication to his family, friends, and colleagues.
Having a father in the Airforce, John moved from state to state as a child, finally settling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he attended Louisiana State University in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in music with minors in both German and Mathematics. After graduating, he was cast the leading role of Tommy in the Theater Baton Rouge’s production of Brigadoon in 1975.
Not long after that, he was able to test into a government position for the State of Louisiana that focused on programming and systems development. From there, he pursued a career in system design as a software developer in the oil and gas industry, helping to establish Micro Solutions in New Orleans, Louisiana. He then moved to Houston, Texas under Energy Solutions. He started doing consulting work under Technology Consulting, helping to create and implement GasMan and the GasTrade system for CIMA Energy prior to being hired on full time in March of 2006. Throughout his career, John was able to travel around the world to countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, China, India, Germany, and England, training and assisting with the system he developed. Known for his unwavering work ethic and integrity, John had only just retired from Cima Energy in June of 2024.
Aside from his lucrative career, family was at the heart of John’s life. He was the eldest of four, having been survived by his two sisters and brother. He was a devoted husband, a loving father to his six children and their spouses, and a beloved grandfather to seven grandchildren. His love and dedication to his family were evident in everything he did. From family gatherings to daily conversations and games, John created a home filled with love, laughter, and warmth.
Outside of his professional and family life, John had a passion for music, literature, and sports. From Pavarotti to Pentatonix and John Grisham to J.K. Rowling, he cultivated a love of the arts that continues in each of his children.
A service to celebrate John’s life was held on January 26, 2025, at The Ark in Katy, Texas. Family, friends, and colleagues came together to honor and remember his remarkable life.
Though John may no longer be with us physically, his spirit and the love he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Rest in peace, John. Your life was a blessing, and you will be deeply missed by all whose lives you touched.
