It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph S. McDade announces his passing on January 16, 2026. Joseph was a graduate of Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix, Arizona; the University of Southern California; SUNY Binghamton; and the University of Houston, where he earned a PhD in Creative Writing and English Literature. Joseph went on to teach at Houston City College (formerly Houston Community College) for 33 years. He was a beloved and inspiring professor of English, helping students connect what they were reading to their own lives.
Joseph is survived by his parents, Joseph and Roseanne; his loving brothers, John and Rob; his sister-in-law, Karen; and his nieces and nephews, Isabelle, Ryan, Logan, and Ella.
