

Klaus completed grade school and cosmetology school in Germany. At the age of 20, he decided to move to America to work for a well-known salon in Houston, TX. Five years later, he met and married his beautiful wife Kirsten; a marriage that lasted 56 years. In 1980, Klaus became an American citizen. Together Klaus and Kirsten have two children and four grandchildren. They also owned and operated their own salon, Copenhagen Coiffure, for 45 years. Klaus and Kirsten have been active church members of Christ Memorial Lutheran for over 50 years.
Klaus was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, hiking, biking, hunting, and fishing. He also liked both water and snow skiing, windsurfing, and flying his Bonanza V-tail. He was also known for his handyman skills.
Klaus was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend. Left to cherish Klaus’ memory are his faithful and devoted wife Kirsten, daughter Heidi Huffstetler(Scott), son Kent Gilbert (Carmen), grandchildren Madison Huffstetler, Kinley Huffstetler, Kellen Gilbert, and Kara Gilbert. He also leaves behind twin sisters Bärbel Franke and Annegret Speckmann and a host of other family members.
A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on April 2, 2022 at Christ Memorial Lutheran, 14200 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX. 77079 at 11:00am with Rev. Tyler Moore and Rev. Scott Huffstetler officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Christ Memorial Lutheran Church in Klaus' memory.
