Larry Neal Sydow, 66, of Katy, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Navasota, Texas, on September 3, 1958, Larry was the beloved son of Elvie “Evon” Sydow and Reginald Garland Sydow, both of whom preceded him in death.
Larry grew up in Clute, Texas, where he shared a joyful and close-knit childhood with his siblings Pamela Kay Sydow Steel, Cindy Lynne Sydow Doolan, Garland Douglas Sydow, and Marcus Wayne Sydow. A proud graduate of Brazoswood High School, Class of 1977, Larry was a standout student-athlete who played both football and baseball—sports he remained passionate about throughout his life.
He shared a deep bond with his second family: Larry, Carolyn, Chuck, and Tory Parks. Together, they created wonderful memories on the farm in Leona and on many fishing trips to Port Mansfield—times Larry cherished and often spoke of with a smile.
Larry built a respected career working for several companies, including Dow Chemical, Prime Equipment, NES Equipment, and Bill Spitzer & Associates. He was known for his strong work ethic, technical expertise, and the camaraderie he shared with his coworkers. His colleagues described him as dependable, principled, and good-humored—a true team player who earned their admiration and friendship.
At the center of Larry’s world was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy, and his two sons, Colby and Marcus, and their fiancées/wives, Kendra and Tarin. He is also survived by his siblings Pamela Kay Sydow Steel, Garland Douglas Sydow, and Marcus Wayne Sydow, as well as their spouses Doug Steel, Andrea Sydow, and Kim Sydow. He was a treasured uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Cindy, and his niece Casey Machelle Steel.
Larry’s greatest joys came from the simple pleasures in life. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved golfing, hunting, and fishing. A lifelong Houston Astros fan, he enjoyed cheering them on through every season. As a member of Falcon Point Golf Club, he spent countless fulfilling hours on the green with friends and family, building lasting bonds over the game he loved.
Those who knew Larry will remember his warmth, his quick wit, and his ability to make everyone feel welcome. He lived his life with quiet strength, humble generosity, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved.
