Lucille (Lucy) P. Flaherty, age 80, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016 with her family by her side. Lucy was born in Queens, NY, on December 23, 1935, to the late Lillian and Matthew Lanzaro. After graduating high school she married the late Donald E. Flaherty in 1955, and they lived together in New York and Guam raising a family of five children before relocating to Houston in 1979.
Lucy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was passionate about animals and especially loved cats. Lucy was a longtime member of The Epiphany Of The Lord Catholic Church in Katy, Texas.
Lucy is survived by her five children: Donald Flaherty, Jr. and wife Bernadette, Timothy Flaherty, Diane Barber and husband Michael Barber, Michael Flaherty and Kerry Flaherty. She also is survived by seven grandchildren: Matthew Barber (Brandy), Joseph Flaherty (Tabitha), Sean Barber, Theresa Flaherty, Kevin Barber, Mitchell Flaherty and Alyssa Flaherty and four great-grandchildren: Dylan, Allie, Cameron and Mason Barber.
