Mary Jane, sometimes lovingly referred to as MJ, was born on September 26, 1959, in Houston, Texas to Ray and Maria Rodriguez and was the oldest of eight beloved siblings. After graduating from Dulles High School in 1978, she began a career in oil and gas at Exxon, where she also met her Husband, Lucas Salas, Jr. She later worked for Fort Bend County for a short time but left to focus on family with the birth of their second child. After a few years at home, she went on to work for Dub Miller Ford in Rosenberg, Texas, but eventually went back to work in oil and gas accounting. MJ took a few college courses early in her working life, but all of her skills in accounting were self-taught or learned on the job. She was a brilliant, incredibly hard-working woman and was able to retire early, after having made lifelong friends at each job she held. MJ cherished every moment she spent with her five grandchildren. She loved planning and taking trips with her husband and family. She was good at almost every hobby she tried, including cooking, sewing, crafting, jogging, and making her home inviting to everyone who stepped into her life. She was a woman of great faith and was a long-time parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg, TX, where she ran the plant stand at the church bazaar for several years. She was most recently a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond, TX.
Mary Jane Salas was preceded in death by her sister, JoAnn, and her parents. Mary Jane is survived by the love of her life and husband for over 38 years, Lucas Salas, Jr., and daughters: Laura Garza, Kristina Rodriguez, and Leanne Salas. She also leaves behind her beautiful grandchildren, whom she was endlessly dedicated to: Leo, Noah, Lucy, Viviana, and Lorenzo, her siblings: Ray Rodriguez, David Rodriguez, Robert Rodriguez, Joe Anthony Rodriguez, Paul Rodriguez, and Vera Campos, along with nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many other family members and friends that were like family, too numerous to mention.
