

Michael Trap Schmidt passed over to be with our Lord on Sunday, the 25th of February 2024. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas on the 30th of April 1966 as the chosen son of his loving parents, James and Lou Schmidt. He graduated from Tulsa Edison High School, and went on to obtain his Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He continued his education at Arizona State University where he earned his Masters of Accountancy.
Michael treasured his fellowship with Christ as demonstrated by his faithful attendance at First Baptist Church of Tulsa through most of his life, actively involved with the youth ministry. After moving to Houston, Texas, Michael found his church home at Second Baptist Church where he married his college sweetheart, Liz, and raised their daughters.
In Houston, he began his successful professional career with Toronto-Dominion Bank as an Analyst. He continued his business pursuits performing consulting work at IPS-Sendero, KPMG, Unisys, and Koch Industries.
Michael loved the outdoors, especially in Austin, Texas, and Scottsdale, Arizona. He enjoyed activities, such as hiking, SCUBA diving, cycling, and traveling. Some of his favorite tourist destinations include Colombia, Costa Rica, Hawaii, and Cayman Islands. He loved getting to see new sights and spend precious time with his family while doing so. He spent much of his free time independently teaching himself new things. He was interested in Biblical studies, computer coding, and professional enrichment.
He was a loving husband to his wife of 24 years, Elizabeth; a supportive father to his treasured daughters, Hannah and Caroline, of Katy, Texas. He is also survived by his sister Alicia Tucker and her husband Mark of England; aunt and uncles, Carol Richardville and her husband Chip, and Bill Briscoe of Tulsa, Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Abigail Sanchez; sisters-in-law, Ana Brown and husband Scott, Martha House and husband Paul, and brother-in-law Ralph Sanchez and wife Trisha, as well as his loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by parents, James Schmidt and Sophia Lou; grandparents Theodore and Dorothy Schmidt and Trap and Ada Briscoe; father-in-law Rafael Sanchez; aunts Trada and Cynthia Briscoe and Uncle Joe Briscoe.
A memorial funeral service will take place at Katy Funeral Home at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2024.
