Michele Zelk

Michele was born in Strawberry, Arkansas on January 30, 1970 to Brenda and George Baker, later moving to Independence, Missouri, where she developed a love for spending time on the water, either skiing, boating, or swimming. She graduated from Truman High School in Independence before later attending Missouri University and Friends University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Engineering. After graduation, she worked as a technology project manager in the energy industry and as an executive in the pharmaceutical industry.

Michele was a dedicated and loving mother of two, a cherished wife, and a trusted friend to anyone she knew. She loved spending time with her loved ones, and she cared deeply for those around her.

She is survived by her husband, Todd Read of Katy, Texas, her children, Kaylin Zelk of St. Joseph, Missouri and Austin Zelk of Katy, Texas, her mother, Judy Baker of Independence, Missouri, her brother, Bill of Independence, Missouri and her sister Julie, of Blue Springs, Missouri and countless relatives and friends whose lives were made so much richer by knowing her.

A celebration of life will be held in her honor on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Katy Funeral Home at 23350 Kingsland Blvd., Katy.
