I remember Bro Jimi when he used to live with the Benson family in Mushin as at 1977ish. He used to set up the boxing fight between me and others while Bros Ade Benson cooked Plantain to cushion our mouth.😀
I have not seen him since then until I heard about his demise. God will console his family for this sudden death. I lost my 60 year sister too about the same month last year.

Dear Uncle Jimi,
It was so shocking to hear the news of your passing, it just felt so abrupt that I couldn’t initially accept it as real. One of my fondest memories of you was about a decade ago when Sylvester and I visited Houston and I seized the opportunity to introduce him (my then fiancé) to my favorite aunty Bose.  I recall how you and aunty welcomed him with open arms, and you and Sylvester talked non-stop about Nigerian politics. Aunty Bose, true to herself had cooked us a scrumptious meal. We ate, drank and talked for hours. I realized that you truly never met a stranger.
I love seeing the pictures of you, aunty, Mayowa, Motola and Deola. I love that you made time to travel, see the world and enjoy your family. I wish you had decades more but I’m grateful for the memories you left to be cherished. May God comfort your entire family, friends and acquaintances. 
Enjoy the presence of the Almighty!

I met you through eavesdropping on your phone calls while dating my sister Adetoun from two different cities in 1988. We eventually met in Atlanta and I spent unforgettable times in your home in  Atlanta, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, and Houston to date. You bought me the best pizza, the best cheesecake and many more. I know you to love quality in all ramifications and discussed those who love generic products to learn the difference. Jimi, your love for good items of clothing and shoes cannot be overlooked.
You were very easy to deal with although always delayed in picking me up from the airport.

How could I forget our numerous discussions about International Politics, Religion, Geography, History, general life lessons, and American Football (that I know nothing about but I nod to your comments). My admiration of you is in different areas. I admired your calmness and transparent nature. I admired your love for humanity, your intelligence, your love for sports, and good food. How can I forget your neatness or your love for linen and designer clothing? How could I forget about your prim and proper clothing and love for ironing without crisps?

It is time to say thank you for always showing me brotherly and truthful love. Thank you for your birthday message to me on June 14, 2020, which I will cherish forever. I appreciate every word written there because they were chosen carefully. I say goodbye ‘Jimi Wrestle’ have a good rest until we meet again at the feet of Jesus.

JIMI ANIBABA – A MODEL OF KINDNESS AND CONTENTMENT CONT’D

The scripture has already pointed out where our comfort lies in times like these. Our relief is that in a moment, at the last trumpet, we will be caught up together with Christ in the air. Death is tragic - always - but praise God, for those who love Him, the pains of death is not forever. It is the “last enemy” which will be crushed under the feet of Jesus (1 Cor. 15: 25-26).
We take solace in the fact that our brother Jimi has now gone to a better place, a place of rest and peace. We say good-bye and thank you for the quality periods we spent with a brother that generously gave us his unconditional love.

You touched so many lives with your kindness, caring, loving and peaceful nature. You will surely be missed.

JIMI ANIBABA – A MODEL OF KINDNESS AND CONTENTMENT  

Greek civilization has been called a triumph of mind, and Roman civilization a triumph of character. Jimi Anibaba’s life uniquely combined the values of these two great eras. His mind was triumphant while at the same time his moral strength, his courage and his principled conduct were commendable. 

For my wife, Adenike and I, Jimi was more than a brother-in-law he consistently glowed in our lives for more than three decades when he started dating and later married our beloved sister Adetoun. He was an extremely caring and ever doting father to their lovely sweet girls Mayowa, Motola and Adeola. He was the kind of brother that stood  by you whenever you needed a friend There are no expressions to adequately describe his remarkable character: humility, sincerity,  loyalty, wisdom, kindness,  and with a strong passion for life.  Indeed, he was a very remarkable, extremely respectful, dear brother - with an innate ability to positively touch lives of those he met.

Jimi was himself. He did not pretend or put on airs. The smallest things brought him such great joy. He showed the world his essence, his truth being visible with his pure heart.  

Jimi was non-judgmental, he accepted people largely for what they were and for who they were. He was without prejudice or guile.  

Alas! Jimi’s golden heart had stopped beating! His hard working hands had gone to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us that He only takes the best.

Those we love remain with us, for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fades.  For as long as there is memory, Jimi will live on in our hearts.

Jimi Anibaba, you were all I could ask for in a brother-in-law. It was a pleasure to be in your company for decades. 

The sunshine smile and the face bubbling with optimism and determination are now gone. We will miss Jimi terribly. 

May you rest in perfect peace Uncle Jimi. 

Mum always spoke very fond memories of you and you sounded like the perfect older brother anyone could wish for. 

May God continue to bless you in eternity and Aunty Adetoun and your children.

Death is inevitable for all but I wish i could turn back the hand of time so I could spend quality time with you...

As a child, your love, care and affection towards me were wonderful and all I could dream of growing up was to show you how much it all meant to me....but i never got the chance.

It's sad you had to leave unexpectedly but I know there is a time for everything under the sun....

You were a part of my growing up even though we were miles apart. We had our moment during grandma’s 90th birthday where we had a lengthy conversation and you advised me on my relationship, career and devotion to God. Your gestures, your words and your actions towards me spoke volume of who you were.

TRIBUTE TO AN IN-LAW,A BROTHER AND A FRIEND

My very dear ln-law,  Jimi ,"what shall we say unto the LORD, all we have to say is Thank you LORD" , for giving us a precious , kind hearted and priceless ln-law. You came into our family through marriage as an ln-law, but you became a brother, friend and an inspiration.You had an excellent relationships with every member of the family.  Jimi was a humble and  gentle person to the core.He was an accommodating and a very sensitive individual who listens whenever anyone went to him for advice.
He was a man of integrity, great poise,soft spoken with wisdom in every spoken word.
As a family man,he led a Christian life and was a generous giver. I thank God for having Jimi as my great ln-law, brother and friend.
We are all proud of you. We  celebrate your life and thank God for the life you lived.
As the adage says,"It is good to enjoy the savour meat in the mouth for a long time but the throat would not allow it", Your countless good deeds shall continually linger on, in our memories.

"Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts." Someone as special as Uncle Olujimi Omo Anibaba will never be forgotten. He will remain in our hearts forever. We pray that in the midst of your sorrow, Sis Toun, you find comfort in all the joyful, loving memories shared. We will never forget when he used to watch National Geographic Channel on Sundays with his friend, my husband. Uncle Jimi was very hilarious. We will always remember his smile and how he rarely got angry. He was a very pleasant family man. He will be missed.

The As a dear friend to Mayowa, I am heartbroken to learn of the loss of her father. Throughout our many years of friendship, she would always mention the love for her parents. Dear Uncle Jimi, the news of your passing was so heartbreaking to all of us.  Our mum fondly called you “My friend” and you’d always respond to her with the dearest smile.  You were delightful, respectable, unassuming, warm and hardworking.  The love you had for the girls was evident in everything you did, and it was very admirable.
We are sure that a crown of glory awaits you because you served the Lord conscientiously.  We saw how active you were in your church on the few occasions we worshipped there.  The Lord who is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him, will welcome you with a big reward.
