October 27, 1939 – June 2, 2025
Sandra Lee McMahon, lovingly known as Sandi, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025. She was born on October 27, 1939, in Lubbock, Texas to Pauline and Ernest Dye. She grew up alongside her brother, Herb Nelson, and enjoyed a joyful and active childhood. Sandi graduated from San Benito High School, where she was a proud cheerleader, and later attended Abilene Christian University. On September 26, 1959, Sandi married the love of her life, Charlie McMahon. Their marriage was a true partnership, filled with warmth, laughter, and 66 beautiful years of devotion. She later continued her education and earned an Associate’s Degree from Texas A&M University.
Sandi possessed a natural gift for design and aesthetics. Without any formal training, she built an impressive 17-year career as an interior decorator, working for several home builders in Houston and made it more personal decorating for her Husband Charlie when he became a homebuilder. Sandi had a keen eye for color, texture, and space. Her natural talent transformed every house she touched into a welcoming home. Her impeccable sense of style extended beyond interior design to fashion and home exteriors, enriching the lives of those around her. Her creativity and dedication were further recognized when she built homes for the McMahon Company in 1977, which was featured in the Houston Chronicle.
Family was the cornerstone of Sandi’s life. She and Charlie raised two children, Chuck and Traci. She poured her heart into her twin granddaughters Lexi and Rylee - who lovingly knew her as “Mimi.” She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always finding joy in bringing everyone together—especially over her homecooked meals during special gatherings.
Though she preferred the comforts of home, Sandi was not one to be left behind when the family travelled. As a result, she saw many remarkable places across the United States and around the world, including Spain, Brazil, Mexico, France, Great Britain, and Canada.
As avid tennis players, Sandi and Charlie competed in singles and doubles matches for many years, forming deep friendships through the sport. In later years, she became an enthusiastic bridge player, embracing the challenge of the game and the camaraderie of her fellow players. She also loved to dance and was quick to perk up whenever music with a good beat played, no matter the genre.
Sandi’s Christian faith and started each day with devotionals that drove her daily activities.
Sandi is survived by her beloved husband, Charlie McMahon, their children Chuck McMahon and Traci McMahon, and her grandchildren Lexi and Rylee Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline and Ernest, and her brother Herb.
The McMahon family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Griswold Home Care West Houston, the staff at Eagle’s Trace, and the compassionate caregivers from Bayou Vista and Bayou City Hospice for their devoted care and support during Sandi’s final chapter.
Sandi will be deeply missed, forever remembered for her strength, grace, creativity, and unwavering love for her family.
