Sara will be missed dearly by her family and many friends. She was born as an only child and raised in Glasgow, Kentucky. She attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri for two years and then Peabody College and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee where she majored in Music. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. At Vanderbilt she met her first husband, Dr. John D. Lecky, who was attending Vanderbilt Medical School.
They moved from Texas with their two sons to Shreveport, Louisiana in 1950. After Dr. Lecky passed away suddenly at age 42, she decided to stay in Shreveport and raise her sons. Sara later married Jim Hutson Cooper and they later moved to Houston, Texas. They moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky when Jim retired. After Jim passed away in 1979, she moved back to Katy, Texas to be close to her two sons.
Sara was a long-time member of Memorial Drive Christian Church in Houston. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother and a friend to everyone she met.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Lara Helm Nickols and Edmund Carl Nickols. She is survived by her treasured family: John D. Lecky and wife Pat Blair Huntington, David Nickols Lecky and wife Kathy Crosthwait Lecky both of Houston, and special grandson David Holland Lecky and wife Caroline Gill Lecky of Houston.
