Simeon Lloyd McKnight, affectionately known as "Semi" by family and his close friends, was born on April 16, 2003, to his loving parents, William Jr. and Jacie McKnight. Simeon was a beacon of love, joy, and kindness, a young man of unwavering character whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew him. He was a devoted son, a caring brother, a cherished nephew and cousin, and a loyal friend.
On Sunday, March 2, 2025, he transitioned to his eternal rest. Although his passing was the result of a tragic event and certainly, he is missed beyond words. However, we choose to celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the twenty-one years we were blessed to have him, rather than dwell on his departure.
"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." – 2 Corinthians 5:8
From a young age, Simeon embraced his faith and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Upon his profession of faith, he was baptized at Brentwood Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Joe Ratliff. He was an active member, serving with devotion in the Children's Choir and on the Love Greeters Board.
A proud graduate of Mayde Creek High School, Simeon earned his diploma on May 21, 2022. He had a deep passion for music, embracing all genres with an open heart. His love for sweets—especially peach cobbler—was legendary, and he delighted in every indulgence. His artistic expression extended to rapping, a passion that led him to showcase his talent at local events. More recently, he discovered a love for travel, inspired by a memorable trip to Las Vegas, NV, with his big sister, Jaela. A bold and vibrant spirit, he proudly claimed red as his favorite color.
Simeon found fulfillment in his work as a Forklift Operator at Lowe’s, a role he thoroughly enjoyed and took pride in.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Theodore R. and Inez Hill Rhoden, affectionately known as (Bigdaddy and Bigmama), James Charles, Sr. and Mary B. Lewis, affectionately called (Big J.C. and Mae Rae); and Mollie Mae Carr (“Mama Mollie”); his great-aunt, Gloria Marie Lewis; and his maternal grandfather, James Charles Lewis Jr.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving parents, William Lloyd and Jacie Cherie McKnight, II; his devoted brothers, William Lloyd McKnight III and Carrington Lloyd McKnight; and his beloved sister, Jaela Renae DeJean. He also leaves behind two precious nephews, Royce Kenneth Rogers and Infant Cyrus Lloyd McKnight. His devoted grandparents, Ms. Inez Rhoden Lewis and Reverend William Sr. and Iretha McKnight, will forever hold him in their hearts.
Simeon is also survived by his uncles, Dustin McKnight, LeDarron (Katrina) Lewis, Sherwin Lewis, Sr., Theodore Lewis, Jamal Lewis, Thaddeus Lewis, and Joshua Lewis; his aunt, Angel Rhoden-Lewis; his great-uncles, Cedric (Tracey) Lewis and Christopher Carr; and his great-aunts, Wanda (Zedric) Carr-Smith, Angela (Carl) Stowers, and Sandra (James) Merritt. Alongside his family, his memory will be treasured by his cousins, colleagues, and a vast circle of friends.
Simeon’s light and love will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew him. Though he is no longer physically present, his legacy of warmth, kindness, and joy will endure eternally. Rest well, beloved Semi.
