From an early age, Steve accepted Christ and walked faithfully with God for the rest of his life. He served his church and community with a steadfast heart, always ready to offer a helping hand, a word of encouragement, or a moment of prayer. Whether he was teaching Bible Classes, mentoring young men, volunteering for outreach, or simply showing up with a servant’s heart—Steve lived out his faith in every action.
Steve graduated from Terre Haute North Vigo High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force Reserves for thirty-four years. During his decades of service, he exemplified duty, discipline, and quiet strength—earning the respect of all who served alongside him. A natural problem-solver with a mind for building and a heart for service, Steve followed his passion and founded Mr. Built Right, a construction company, for more than 30 years, that lived up to its name. His work was known for its excellence, precision, and integrity—just like the man behind it.
Steve was married to the love of his life, Jackie Session. Their love was the kind that inspired others—rooted in faith, laughter, partnership, and unwavering devotion. Steve cherished the simple joy of starting each day with Jackie over early morning coffee. Whether traveling to golf together, cruising in his enhanced MGB, or serving hand-in-hand at Sugarland Church of Christ, Steve found joy in every moment shared with her. He truly lived to love, protect, and uplift his wife.
Steve’s hobbies reflected his spirit—golfing brought him peace, and restoring classic MG cars brought him joy. As Chairman of the Houston MG Car Club, he connected with others who shared his appreciation for craftsmanship and timeless beauty.
His life was guided by the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. He gave generously of his time and talents, always willing to help—from remodeling homes to fixing cars and supporting loved ones in every season.
He loved his children deeply—Angelita and Steven and took immense pride in the people they became. He taught them various values that they would need in life, from bowling, swimming, golfing, to worshipping GOD. Especially how to be great parents to his 8 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, loving them beyond life. Steve took immense pride in the adults they have become. He also embraced his bonus children as his own: AJ, Aaron, Jennifer, Jantel (Melvin), and Arieal (Jordan). To his eight bonus grandchildren, Steve was more than a grandfather; he was a steady guide, a storyteller, and a source of unconditional love. Steve also shared a deeply special bond with his mother, Cora Session, always reflecting his heart for family and honor for the woman who raised him.
Steve leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Jackie W. Session; his children, Angelita (Marcus) and Steven (Brittany); his mother, Cora Session; his siblings, Diane Session, Pamela Nolan, Lillian Hughley; and his brother, Darrell Hughley (Kimberly). His sisters-in-law Jill Tillman, Joyce Engham, Janell Montgomery, and Jolisa Hills; his grandchildren: Nyra, Shakyra, Najah, La’Zander, La’Zavion, Na’shay, Alayia and Sabria;three great-children, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
