Thomas Edward Klawiter Jr.

Tom was born June 18th, 1943, in Tyler, Texas. He lived at Boy’s Harbor during his high school years, and graduated from LaPorte High School in 1961. He was a member of the United States Air Force Reserves. Tom graduated from the Houston Police Academy, Class 37 on January 8th, 1968. During his career he served in Communications, Juvenile, Homicide, Auto Theft, and at the time of his retirement (April 23rd, 2004) he was assigned to Westside Burglary and Theft.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Olin and Leland; and his sister, Diane. He leaves behind is loving wife of 31 years, Nelda Klawiter of Katy, Texas; sons Thomas E. Klawiter, III and wife Erin of Coppell, Texas and Stephen P. Sztraky and wife Michelle of Katy, Texas; grandchildren Palmer, Wyatt and Sam Klawiter, Morgan and Matthew Sztraky; one nephew, John Karl Hill and wife Laura, and two children Colin and Trevor of The Crossroads, Texas.

Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is described as a kind, compassionate and caring person to all. Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service is being held at Katy Funeral Home on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 1pm.
