Troy Gerken 53, was born on March 21, 1966 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was a longtime resident of Katy, TX. Troy passed away on November 11, 2019 in Minot, North Dakota. Troy grew up in Grandforks, North Dakota, graduating from Grandforks High School. After high school Troy joined the Marines and was stationed in Okinawa.
Troy was a loving husband, father, brother and friend, loved by everyone he met. Troy worked in the diving industry for 20 plus years. He began his diving career with AOD in 1994, where he met his wife Kay. Divers are a rare breed, it takes a certain caliber of a man/woman to understand not only the toll on their body and mind, but to endure the time spent away from their family. But Troy loved the diving industry and being able to teach the new hands the skills of the trade, that he had learned through the years, along the way through his career. Troy worked hard, but he also played hard. He never understood why grown men would want to chase a little white ball all day long. Then while working in Chesapeake Bay, Mark Carreon introduced him to the game of golf. Troy became obsessed with golf, to say the least. He played anywhere he could, enjoyed the challenges of each new course offered. Troy was a member at Willow Fork where he met numerous golfing buddies and made some lasting friendships. Troy loved the sunshine on sandy beaches, enjoyed lighting up the pit having family / friend gatherings, and hanging out with them.
Troy is survived by his loving wife Kay Gerken, sons Jerry Leblanc and Dennis Leblanc. His siblings Guy, Vaughn Jr., Michael, and Tammy.
Troy is preceded in death by his father Vaughn Gerken Sr. and mother Dorothy Gerken.
