Victoria Ortega Flores

Victoria Ortega Flores, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on November 15, 2024, at the age of 98. Born in Dolores, Texas, a mining town, Victoria lived a life of love, creativity, and devotion to her family.

Victoria married the love of her life, Fidel Flores, on February 16, 1947, in Laredo, Texas. Together, they raised their family in Del Rio and Laredo, creating a home filled with love and joy. A dedicated wife and mother, she prioritized her family above all else, always ensuring they felt supported and cherished.

Victoria’s creativity and talents were boundless. She loved painting, sewing, and crafting, often creating costumes and other treasures for her children and grandchildren. Her handiwork was a reflection of her care, and her creations brought smiles and lasting memories to her family.

Victoria had a deep love for birds and found great joy in their songs. Her favorite moments were spent with her family, playing games like Lotería, where her vibrant personality and competitive spirit shone brightly. Known for her love of the color pink, she embodied the warmth and optimism the color represents.

A strong and independent woman, Victoria was a source of strength and guidance for her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fidel Flores, and is survived by her son, Fidel Flores Jr.; daughters, Yolanda Rahme, Elsa Valo, and Norma Gonzalez; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her legacy of love and resilience.

Victoria’s family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with her husband and surrounded by peace. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered as the heart of her family and a beacon of love and creativity.

Rest in peace, Victoria. Your love, laughter, and light will remain in our hearts forever.
