

Virginia Mondragon Rodriguez, a beloved and cherished member of her family and community, passed away on August 18, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on November 10, 1948, Virginia grew up in Morelia, Michoacan. She was a resident of Katy, Texas, where she spent her later years surrounded by family and friends.
Virginia dedicated her life to being a stay-at-home mother, a role in which she excelled, earning the heartfelt title of Best Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother. Her marriage to Fortino Ortega Monroy, who has since passed away, was a testament to her commitment and love for her family.
Her personal interests included gardening, sewing, cooking, and baking. Virginia was best known for her exceptional cooking skills, and she found joy in raising pigeons, a favorite pastime that brought her much happiness.
Virginia was preceded in death by her mother, Cleotilde Rodriguez Santoyo; her father, Isaias Mondragon; her husband, Fortino Ortega Monroy; and her children, Maria Ortega Mondragon and Jose Ortega Mondragon. She is survived by her siblings, Guadalupe Mondragon Rodriguez and Delfino Mondragon Rodriguez; her children, Virginia Elizabeth Ortega Mondragon, Napoleon Ortega Mondragon, Karina Ortega Mondragon, Claudia Ortega Mondragon, Lucero Estefania Ortega Mondragon, and Tania Erendira Ortega Mondragon.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Andrea Carolina Fernandez Ortega, Jessica Alejandra Fernandez Ortega, Leslie Virginia Ortega, Vanessa Fernandez Ortega, Ahilin Alexis Ortega, Arturo Fernandez Ortega, Mario Saul Salgado Ortega, Napoleon Jr Ortega, Andres Ortega Mondragon, Angel Jesus Garcia Ortega, Jose Luis Calderon Ortega, Alexander Calderon Ortega, and Santiago Gibran Lara Ortega; and her great-grandchildren, Matteo Fernandez Ortega, Jayden Santiago Ortega, Napoleon C. Ortega III, and Leonidas John Fuentes-Ortega.
Virginia Mondragon Rodriguez will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared with all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
