Al was born January 15, 1949 to Berford and Dorcas Campbell in Akron, Ohio. He passed away May 1, 2020 at the age of 71, at home, surrounded by family and love in Katy, Texas.
As a young man growing up, Al enjoyed spending long hours playing military strategy games and developing a life-long obsession (or passion) with the Civil War. Upon graduation from Ellet High School in 1967, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving in South Korea in the DMZ.
In the early 1980's on a trip to Houston, Al secured employment with ExxonMobil Corporation in the Security field. Upon his retirement, after 30 years of service, he began to enjoy the fruits of his labor through simple pleasures; laughing with friends and family, spending endless time on the golf course, travelling to Civil War battlefields and letting loose with a good old glass of Kentucky bourbon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Kathryn; strong sons Michael Scott Hager (Jeanie) and William Allen Campbell (Jennifer), devoted daughter Stacey Margret Campbell and eight loving grandchildren.
Al is preceded in death by his parents Berford and Dorcas Campbell.
